Stolen Sisters Memorial March Victoria

"Since the 1970's over 3000 women have gone missing or been found murdered in Canada. More than half are under the age of 31. Eighty eight percent have left behind children and grandchildren. The majority have been Indigenous women. No one has been charged in over 150 of the confirmed homicides. 300 of the official cases are still unsolved" - quote from the film 'Survival, Strength, Sisterhood: Power of Women in the Downtown Eastside'

This is a memorial march to honor the missing and murdered Indigenous women. Their spirits still live with us. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate.

The memorial march will be on Sunday, February 12th, 2012 and begin at 12:00 noon in front of Our Place, 919 Pandora avenue. We will walk down Pandora, turn left on Government st. and make our way to Thunderbird Park where there will be food and speeches. Feel free to wear red or regalia, bring drums and remember loved ones.

All signage should be that of a memorial nature (remembering and honoring loved ones). Please no organizational signage. This is not a protest. Educational events will take place in the week prior to the march. For more information please phone 250.721.8353 or email feb.14.memorialmarch@gmail.com
