"Celebrating Women at UBC is a blog dedicated to the promotion and visibility of some of the interesting, intelligent, creative and passionate women-identified bodies at the University of British Columbia. Although gender-ratios in the student body are equal, many women’s voices still go unheard or unappreciated due to the systemic patriarchy that exists.
This year on International Women’s Day, the UBC Equity Ambassadors have committed to immortalizing the words of some of these women through a poster campaign that will go public on the UBC campus in the week leading up to March 8th as well as this blog.
You will be able to find us in Irving K. Barber Learning Centre on March 7th between 9am and 4pm.
This blog will feature the full biographies of these women for those who are interested in learning more about the passions, interests and backgrounds of the women who have inspired many members of the UBC community. All of these women were chosen by you, the UBC community via nomination and so we are not only grateful to the nominees for their time and participation in this project, but also to all the students, staff members and professors across UBC who wanted to join us in our endeavour to recognize the great talent that exists on this campus."
