Each year on December 6th, the Richmond Women's Resource
Centre commemorates Canada's National Day of Remembrance and Action on
Violence against Women. On December 6, 1989, 14 women engineering students
at Montreal's L'ecole Polytechnique were shot and killed expressly because
they were women. So on that day we gather to remember women murdered and
missing across the world - in Montreal, on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, and all
others lost to us. We remember, we grieve their loss, and we work to change
attitudes and prevent violence against women.
The Richmond Women's Resource Centre will hold a memorial vigil at 11AM on
Saturday December 6th in the labyrinth at St. Alban's Church. We will
gather together to light candles and remember and rededicate ourselves to
the prevention violence against all women. Please join us.
