Dear friends and SIS Supporters,
NWAC, Amnesty International Canada and Kairos Canada are pleased to announce the 4th annual Sisters In Spirit Vigil. Each year, concerned citizens and Aboriginal community members gather on October 4th at Parliament Hill. We gather to honour our lost sisters and their families. We gather to show we are a united front. We gather to shed light on a crisis that affects every Canadian. We gather to pressure all levels of government to act and ACT NOW!
We are proud to show our support and are committed to raising awareness projects. This Vigil is one of the ways we can educate the public on the issues, rally our supporters and also compel a government response. We look forward to having you participate in our work first-hand. We know you will find it a rewarding experience.
We invite you, your organization and your community to join with us in solidarity on October 4th 2009. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT! Forty cities hosted their own event last year. Many have already contacted us to confirm their participation again this year, thank you.
NWAC is also excited to announce two new partners to our SIS Vigil Committee in Ottawa. The National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) and the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) have joined our dedicated team. Together we are determined to have more vigils nationwide as well as increased media coverage. We are looking to you to make our vision a reality.
For a Registration Form contact Laura at lflorez@nwac-hq.org or fax at 613.722.7687.
If you have any questions she can also be reached by telephone at 1.800.461.4043 ext 251.
We look forward to your involvement and participation!
Yours sincerely,
The SIS Vigil Committee
NWAC is also looking for 40 volunteers to help with this event. If you are interested, please write Jennifer at jlord@nwac-hq.org.
