FIVE FINGERS of SELF DEFENSE, EMPOWERMENT, and PEACE BUILIDING
The model of FIVE FINGERS: using your Mind, Voice, Escaping, Fighting, and Telling your Story, was created in the 1970’s by women martial arts and self-defense instructors especially for women. At that time, women were just coming into their own power, and felt they needed a positive way to learn how to be safe in this world.
Supportive and encouraging, the class goes over scenarios that span the realms of “annoying to life - threatening” -in the continuum of Violence using ways to; speak up, avoid, escape, and physically defend against attacks.
All participants are encouraged to participate at whatever level they are comfortable.
Open to Women and Girls 13 and older and Vulnerable Men and Boys 13 and older, these classes are supervised and taught by Shifu/Sensei Koré Grate, the executive director /head instructor of FEMA, a NWMAF Nationally Certified Self Defense Instructor and holds a 7th degree black belt in Wu Chien Pai and a 2nd degree black belt in Iaido (Traditional Japanese Sword).
FEMA offers this class 3-4 times per year on a Monday night from 6:00-9:00 PM at the low cost of $50.00 per person. Full Time Students, Seniors and groups of three of more can request a discount.
