Event Description

You are invited to attend an event to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Canada.

In what has become an annual tradition at UNBC, the Day of Remembrance will be held on Friday, November 29th at 12 noon in the UNBC Winter Garden.

Speakers, poets and performers will be taking part. A reception will be held after the memorial in the Northern Women's Centre. A showing of the film, "Polytechnique" will also be provided after the reception. Everyone is welcome!

Established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada, this day marks the anniversary of the murders on December 6th, 1989 of 14 young women at l'Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal.

The day of remembrance is a day for men and women to reflect on the lives of these 14 women and to acknowledge and take action on the gender-based violence that exists within our own community.
