Event Description

A launch for recent books by SFU authors engaged in rewriting and reimagining “other histories.” The authors include Adrienne Burk, Lara Campbell, Zoë Druick, Helen Leung & Kirsten McAllister.

Adrienne Burk's new book on memorial making will be one of five books launched:
Speaking for a Long Time: Public Space & Social Memory in Vancouver
Recounts the complex stories behind the making of three monuments, including those challenging violence against women.

Others are:
Respectable Citizens: Gender, Family, and Unemployment in Ontario’s Great Depression by Lara Campbell

Terrain of Memory: A Japanese Canadian Memorial Project by Kirsten Emiko McAllister

Allan King's A Married Couple by Zoe Druick

Farewell My Concubine by Helen Hok-Sze Leung
