The Artistic Director, Dave Sheridan and the students from Thousand Islands Secondary School were responsible for creating the Women’s Memorial. The Memorial is situated at Blockhouse Island, a park along the beautiful St. Lawrence River in Brockville, Ontario. The sculpture is made of bronze mounted on a black granite base.

The recent November unveiling of the Memorial was entitled “Voices of Hope” a community celebration to end violence against women. The community involvement and talent was truly inspirational.

The inscription reads “This is dedicated to all the women and girls for whom violence is a daily reality, for those who have died at the hands of violence, and to all the women and men who work to end it”
