Thanks very much Christine, Lindsay, Barbara and Patti,well the meeting at parliament with Joe was a little easierthen i anticiapated, well i just sat there and let everyone elsedo the talking!!! I feel really confident that HELEN'S LAWwill be forthcoming ya i know it might take years and yearsbut it is something that will help other women in domesticsituations. Just to say Thanks to Mary Scott and Lindsay i received the signed petitions and added them to my envelope. Greatly appreciated. Well i got my lawyers office involved and she willget all signatures possible from the office staff!!! keep em comming!!! Lets all get together to show Ottawa that this a serious issue and fight for Helen's Law!! Thanks again for everyones help!!See More

Women Won't Forget

Every December 6th at 6pm we host a candlelight vigil at Philosopher’s Walk to commemorate the women who have died due to violence. We heighten awareness of the pervasive extent of abuse against women and encourage efforts to end it.

In Memory of Helen Slichta

One year ago today my mom and best friend lost her life at the hands of a monster!He broke in to my home and attacked myself and my daughter with a hammerand hit my mom over the head with a hammer and slashed her throat with a knife. she diedas a result. Dear Heather,

Please have a look at the Groups section. I added the petition in there, it's a start. If you want additions or changes just let me know. I asked people at work to sign the petition and filled a whole sheet, my first one. My co-workers were also very moved and wanted to help. They felt strongly that the police and the courts should do more.
I wrote Avaaz and asked then to help with the online petition and am now waiting to hear back.
